The Talentum Learning Trust

Careers Week at Beresford Memorial

At Beresford Memorial CE First School, one of the nine schools within The Talentum Learning Trust, they are proud to provide our pupils with inspiring opportunities that connect learning to the wider world. As part of our ongoing Careers Week, they recently welcomed a special visitor who helped pupils explore exciting future pathways in the creative and digital industries.

Exploring Careers in Computer Games Design

Beresford were delighted to host Mike Beardmore, Course Leader for Computer Games Design at Staffordshire University. Mike introduced our pupils to the many fascinating jobs involved in the world of game design, including roles such as:

  • Artist
  • Illustrator
  • Animator
  • Script writer
  • Narrator
  • And many more!

This engaging session gave pupils a real insight into how diverse and creative careers in technology can be. It also encouraged them to think about their own aspirations and the skills they might develop to succeed in these fields.

Creativity and Aspiration in Action

Inspired by Mike’s visit, pupils enthusiastically planned their own game ideas for the future. One standout project is the game ‘Domination’, which pupils believe has the potential to be a world best-seller! This imaginative activity not only sparked creativity but also helped develop teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills — all key elements of our Trust’s vision of building together and excellence in standards.

Reflecting Our Values

This Careers Week activity beautifully exemplifies the core values of The Talentum Learning Trust:

  • Aspiration: Encouraging pupils to aim high and dream big about their futures.
  • Compassion: Supporting one another’s ideas and working collaboratively.
  • Integrity: Learning about honest and ethical practises within creative industries.
  • Excellence for All: Providing high-quality, inclusive opportunities for every pupil to explore and grow.

We are excited to continue supporting our pupils as they explore their interests and develop the confidence to succeed in life. Careers Week is just one example of how we bring our mission to life — to enable every learner to believe in themselves and aspire to be the best they can be.
